Eureka Episode 4x15 Review

Episode Title: Omega Girls
Overall Season Rating: B+
Episode Rating: B+

This week we get a conclusion to the Allison story. I want to apologize for my huge error last week. Instead of identifying the Beverly at the end, I said it was Allison. While I think it would have been very cool for the show to include replicants, that was not the case AT ALL. This was pointed out in the comments section. Please do feel free to comment on anything, especially if I'm dead wrong about something.

The main part of this episode was about Beverly trying to steal all of Global Dynamics' secrets. So there is no confusion, I'm going to refer to her as Beverly, even when she's in Allison's body. I loved how Jack figured it out pretty much right away. One conversation and he's like "something ain't right". The show always has done a great job of showing us just how good of a cop Jack really is. He may not be as smart as everyone else, but his instincts are perfect. They quickly identify that Beverly had lied about Allison being in a car accident, and then turn to Zane for help.

This week's crazy technology was Brain-Machine Interface(BMI), or in Allison/Beverly's case Brain-Brain Interface. It seems to work by implanting nanobots in people's brains that act as receivers, and this can be controlled by a central area. This tech is quite powerful. Soon after becoming Acting Head of G.D. Jack figures out the plot and puts Beverly in jail. She quickly escapes with a little device that knocks out everyone in the whole town. The inoculations that were being given contained a nanobot that could release a neurotransmitter that causes people to fall asleep. I may have forgotten it, but when, and why did Jack get an inoculation? He's not going on the mission.

Meanwhile, Jo has gone to pick up Zoey from the airport. What, Eureka doesn't have a transporter? What's the good of living in a town like Eureka if you still have to take regular planes everywhere? Anyway, Zoey knows all about Jo and Zane because "It's a small town". I guess that was a good explanation. After all, I'm sure there is a lot of gossip in the town.  They return to find everyone unconscious. It's now up to them to save the town. You knew they would, but I liked that it was these two. Jo has always been seen as the deputy, and Zoey has been gone for a long time. It was good to see them showing off how cool they are.

More baddies arrive, and begin to help Beverly break into the core to steal all of the work Eureka has been doing. It would "level the playing field".  Zoey finds out about the BBIs, and before Jo can do anything Beverly stuns her, and puts her in jail. Zoey calls Jo, but accidentally tells Beverly she knows everything. She sends her dudes to chase her, but they both fail miserably, returning in disgrace. These scenes were cool, but these guys are supposed to be trained in doing stuff like this.

Zoey tries to wake her father up with an electric shock but it doesn't work, while Jo tries to break into the computer. This activates the security protocol and stops the core's download. Beverly takes the entire HD instead. I don't know why they didn't attempt this at first. She says, she wanted to be in and out with no one knowing. But once Jack woke up, he would tell everyone that someone has hijacked Allison's body and everyone would know anyway. Plus, both Jo and Zoey know exactly who she is and they would tell people, If they just broke in, took the HD and left they may have been able to get out.

Before they can leave though, Jo stuns Allison's body, and her dudes leave without her. Very bad goons. They failed to stop a teenage girl, and let their boss get zapped. Zoey finally does wake up her dad by increasing the dose of the neurotransmitter, and forcing his brain to fight it. They don't know how much info Beverly did get through the brief time they had the download working, but it is concerning. At the end, Zoey still upset about Jo and Zane asks her dad what happened. He tells her all about the time travel stuff. I'm sure nothing huge will come from it, but they did make clear how important it was to keep it a secret.

Next week will probably be back to regular Eureka craziness.
